Are there different types of immersive iPIX® images? Yes, there are two types: Panoramic and iPIX® Full 360° images. Panoramic iPIX® images let you pan to the left or right in a full circle, and zoom in and out. iPIX® Full 360° images let you pan left and right, look up and down, and zoom in or out. How can I look at Full 360° images? First install an iPIX® Plug-in or Viewer, available free from this site. Download the free software and start seeing Full 360° images immediately. How do I navigate Full 360° Images? Navigating standard Full 360° images Navigating Java iPIX® images What are Java iPIX® images? Special formats of Full 360° images which are compatible with the iPIX® Java® Viewer. The Java Viewer provides users of Internet Explorer 3 (and up) and Netscape 3 (and up) the ability to view Full 360° images without iPIX® Plug-ins or Viewers. How are Full 360° images used? Click here to see lots of examples. Why do I keep getting an error message that reads "File format no longer supported?" You should update your iPIX® Plug-in or Viewer to eliminate this problem. Viewing Full 360° images When I clicked on a Full 360° image, the page said "Document Done," but I can't see the image. Internet screens are sent in "packets" that are transmitted and arrive separately. Since Full 360° images may be larger than other screen content, it often takes 20-40 seconds to download an entire image, depending on the modem speed and Internet traffic at that time. Please allow enough time to download the whole image and let it decompress before trying to navigate within it. I clicked on a thumbnail of an Full 360° image, but nothing happened. Some browsers and operating systems require you to double-click instead of single-click. Try double-clicking on the image and see if this makes it work. I can view Full 360° images on some Web sites but not others. Newer Web sites that have just started displaying Full 360° images may not have their server software configured properly. If you run into one of these situations, please take note of the URL and call 1-800-336-7113 or contact tech support. Our support team will contact the site and help the Internet Service Provider update their server. I can't view Full 360° images on any Web sites. You may need to upgrade your iPIX® Plug-in or Viewer. Click here to download the software for free. Visitors to my Web site are complaining that they get an error message when trying to open Full 360° images. What can I do to remedy this situation? The images on the Web site need to be upgraded to the new iPIX® file format. To update the files, you can take advantage of two available options: • Email the images to iPIX and the dedicated team will update and return the images.For additional support, contact iPIX Technical Support at +44 (0)20 7935 4260, or email eurosupport@ipix.com. On my Macintosh, when I first downloaded an Full 360° images, the screen went blank and my system seemed to lock. You probably don't have enough memory allocated to the application. This is particularly true in the case of Macintosh computers using the Netscape browser. Simply raise the memory allocation for Netscape to at least 9MB (or more) and you should be able to view Full 360° images. I'd like to look at more Full 360° images. This section is constantly growing and is always accessible from the iPIX Web site's main menu at www.ipix-eu.com. iPIX® Plug-ins and Viewers What are iPIX® Plug-ins and Viewers? Pieces of software that give your Web browser the capability to view Full 360° images on Web pages. Is there a charge or fee for looking at Full 360° images or for downloading a Viewer? No. Viewing Full 360° images and download of Plug-ins and Viewers is free. Psssssssstttt...tell your friends. How do I download the latest iPIX® Java® Viewers? ZIP File (Windows) HQX File (Macintosh) How do I obtain the latest iPIX® Plug-in or Viewer for my Web browser? iPIX® Plug-ins and Viewers are available from the iPIX Web site. Detailed download instructions accompany each iPIX® Plug-in/Viewer. What Internet browsers will work with the iPIX® Plug-in? iPIX® Plug-ins and Viewers are currently available for Windows 95/98/NT, and Macintosh OS computers. iPIX® Plug-ins support Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 and higher and Netscape Navigator version 3.0 and higher. The Plug-in download is made even simpler with an ActiveX download for Internet Explorer and a JIM download for Netscape Navigator. The ActiveX and JIM downloads allow iPIX® Plug-ins to be installed without closing your browser. The Plug-in will also work on Netscape Plug-in compatible browsers such as AOL and Opera. However, iPIX does not provide technical support for browsers other than Netscape and Internet Explorer. I think I downloaded the iPIX® Plug-in, but I can't find it on my system. Where is it? Unless you interrupted the download process, then the Plug-in is most likely on your machine. During the download process, our instructions suggest that you take note of where you're storing the installation program on your system. This is so that you can later access it. In case you didn't do that, you'll need to use the search function of your operating system, which varies from system to system, to find it. You can then run it to install the iPIX® Plug-in. I ran the Plug-in installation program and it finished, but I still can't see 360° images There are usually multiple copies of the browser on your system. You should first determine which browser you use all the time. Take note of where it is located on your system. Be prepared to select this path during the installation process when the program tells you into which "Destination Directory" it plans to put the iPIX® Plug-in file. It is easy to select the proper path at this time. The installation program completed and tried to bring up the iPIX Web site, but I received an error message stating that there is no DNS entry. The installation program assumes that you are still online and brings up your browser so you can check to make sure everything is loaded. If you haven't stayed logged on, simply close the browser and log back on, then go to our Web site at www.ipix-eu.com and select a Full 360° image to verify that the installation completed satisfactorily. If the image does not load, reinstall the plug-in. Are there any Web browsers that will not work with Full 360° images? iPIX® Plug-ins and Viewers do not work with Internet Explorer 2.0 and lower for PC and Macintosh; Netscape 2.0 and lower for PC and Macintosh; and AOL on the Macintosh. Anyone using these browsers can either upgrade *their* browser, or can use the free, stand-alone viewer, available from the iPIX Web site. This Viewer gives users the ability to see Full 360° images locally, but not over the Internet. Will the iPIX® Plug-ins work with other Internet browsers, such as Mosaic or Opera? The iPIX® Plug-in is only optimized for Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. That is not to say that it will not work with other browsers, but we do not claim to support other browsers at this time. I am running Internet Explorer. I installed the ActiveX but when I try to view one of your images all I get is the blue logo/black screen. Unregister the component(s) and then reinstall while making sure you wait for the entire download to complete. When I am installing iPIX® Software, I get "Error 112" while Installshield is decompressing. "Error 112" indicates when your TEMP directory is full. You need to go through your TEMP file and delete the .tmp files. This will remove the unnecessary files from your hard drive which are hindering the iPIX® Software installation. Once you have sorted your TEMP directory, try installing the iPIX® Software again. Internet Explorer warns of a security hazard and won't let me install the iPIX® Plug-in. There is no security hazard. Internet Explorer will refuse most ActiveX content when on High. You need to lower the security settings of your browser to Medium or Low. Look inside the Security Options area of your browser.
